The Group’s History
OFF THE WALL has been delighting audiences in Southern California since 1975. Founded by DeVera Marcus and first produced by Norman Marcus, the cast first spread their wings at a small dance studio near a hamburger stand in West Hollywood.

In 1978, the group starred in its own late night TV pilot for ABC, called “Completely Off The Wall,” guest starring John Ritter. In 1980, Off The Wall was invited to be the resident company at the Improvisation in Hollywood and played there for 14 years. Among former members and illustrious guests are Robin Williams, Chevy Chase, Jim Belushi, George Wendt and John Ritter. Michael Feinstein was the group’s piano player for several years.
Ever since its inception, the group has garnered accolades from critics and audiences alike. Group members have appeared in thousands of movies, television episodes and commercials, and written scripts for familiar TV shows and unfamiliar feature films.
Currently the longest continuously running all-improv ensemble perhaps in the world, Off The Wall entertained an international audience at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2000 in Scotland. The group is also much in demand for corporate parties, fund-raisers, and events.
